RE: Department & Committee Reports 2014
Greetings in the matchless name of Jesus Christ.
In order to effectively execute any objective, it is important that the principle of Accountability be in place with respect to leadership and infrastructure of any organization. This is no less true in God’s kingdom and in the work of the Church. After Jesus had sent out the disciples to carry on ministry throughout Galilee, upon their return, they reported to Jesus on all that they had done. (Mark 6:7-12, 30; Luke 10:1-17)
In the same spirit and frame of mind, we are building accountability measures into our jurisdiction infrastructure, such that it will be necessary to periodically require of leaders, department heads and any one responsible for an assignment to report on the activities executed, goals accomplished, funds raised, etc.
One of the accountability measures is the official Reports of Committees and Departments segment during our Quarterly Empowerment Conference. Please note that if you are a leader or department head, you should come to every conference prepared with updates of what activities have taken place, plans have been executed, objectives reached, etc. If you are called upon for a report, please understand and be clear, this is NOT a time of preaching, exhorting, testimony, but is a time for you to give unto the body and the fellow leaders a clear, concise summary of exactly what you ministry unit is doing, has done and what the outlook is for the remainder of the year. If for any reason that you, as the department president/head, will be absent or miss a conference (remember the accountability of absences for significant personal issues only), please be sure than an alternate spokesperson for your department (ex. Vice President, Chairlady, etc.) is prepared to speak on your behalf.
Some examples of items that can and should be addressed in your NO MORE THAN 5-minute report presentation:
· Visionary Goals and Objectives for your Department for the year and how those tie in and support the overall Vision of the Bishop
· Specific Events/Activities/Initiatives and how those initiatives support the Visionary Goals and Objectives and how they will enhance and edify the jurisdiction constituency (very important!) and why the jurisdiction constituency should participate and be a part.
· Staffing and or personnel that have been appointed by you or that will be part of the department assignment for the year – to introduce and familiarize the jurisdiction with them
· Any relevant dates or key timelines for your department for the year
· You should demonstrate, personify and communicate excitement, energy and motivation for the work of your department and the initiatives and programs that are in place
For the upcoming Quarterly Empowerment Conference, the following departments/ministries will be called upon for their 1st Quarter report/presentation with 5 minutes a piece:
Departments of AIM: Evangelism, Music, Missions, Sunday School, Youth
Women’s Department
Operations Department
